...I don't think this is a very good idea. I'm not saying that those spots are bad idea as such, but think of the chemicals in said pens and what they may do to your fabric and threads over time.
At least I prefer to keep all the possible chemicals away from my stitching if I just can because I want to preserve it to generations to be (idealistic, maybe).
Talking of anal...
And being brutal, I think I may be, in addition to everything else, gluten intolerant. Oat causes bowel irritation... so, what is left in my grain selection?.. Rice.
