Monsoon Wedding and other things

Now that LJ works I have to voice that amazement I experienced few days back when I went to local generic-brands-el-cheapo-store's website, checked their sale DVDs and found Monsoon Wedding from their selection!

1. Bollywood movies aren't big in Finland.
2. generic-brands-el-cheapo-store is not known to have DVDs outside the generic selection (they do have some excellent sale CDs sometimes though).

Of course I had to buy it, for two reasons: 1. I love Bollywood flicks and 2. it brings some sweet memories from days gone by.
And, just to justify the postage, I had bought few other DVDs and pile of clothes (in hopes that they all will actually fit). (I have noticed that watching DVDs while stitching is excellent stitching speed booster.)

Those other things

It seems to me that even I used to be burns easily, does not tan as a kid, then grew to be doesn't burn easily, but doesn't tan either I will be my mother within few years... I am catching tan even I don't sun bathe nor spend too much time outside (pollen, you know) and I am catching it fast! (You should see how brown my arms got yesterday... but then, if this is hereditary and my mother's skin is on the darker side of café au lait that is completely normal. (Example: my mother goes to $HOT_SUNNY_COUNTRY and she uses generic moisturiser as her sun lotion... because she does not burn, just catches tan))

Three Things for 31st of August, 2006

"What are three things that you would rather be doing right now?"

1. Have a stimulating conversation with someone 'til the wee hours of next month...
2. Be pampered by someone.
3. Watch 'Lost In Translation' again.

I don't understand my need to see that movie again. Someone could say it has to do with the fact that I saw it when I was seeing Wolfie, but it's not that. I saw many, many movies during that month (advantages of movie addicts), but only LiT haunts me. And I need to see it again to know why I want to see it again (repeat ad nauseam *grin*).

Children's movies, what a wonderful way to make yourself relax. Header is from movie Kuningas, jolla ei ollut sydäntä (King without a heart), fairy tale written by Mika Waltari - who's better known as author of The Egyptian (Sinuhe egyptiläinen).

I used to love this story when I was a kid, even it was a tad scary. Back then.
When I've grew up I've found it as a story and as a movie (purchased DVD from some sale in ridiculously low price).

Even I know it's Finnish movie, filmed in Finland, it amazes me. There are certain amazing sceneries which are actually quite typical for Finland, but still they have this 'exotic' feel. Quite good effect, noticing I'm almost 27 and lived in here my whole life.
If I had suitable cable to connect my laptop to my desktop computer I'd take you few screen shots... but I don't have. Yet.

Being sick

Yes, I am. Whole set: sore throat and muscles, icky stuff in my sinuses (not much), tiredness, hot skin, slight depression. In addition to that my back hurts because my body knows how to schedule things...

Fortunately I've Wolfie (honestly: he's amazing) who worries about my well-being and sends me sweet SMS' to keep my spirits up.

Nerdy stitching

As some of you know I don't own a printer and therefore I stitch my freebies from screen.

I was opening my laptop (HP from now on) in the morning, and for some reason I found that situation hilarious as I use one computer to follow design and other one runs movie I'm watching while stitching. (I think that getting HP will mean that I'll watch much more movies in future. As I don't have actual DVD player, but HP has CD-R - DVD drive in it... )

Anyway, I wont be able to fulfill my 24 hour challenge goal (I've only about an hour left). I slept quite long today, and I have had frantic (amazing, to be honest) SMS exchanging whole day so I think I'm excused.

One of the best lines, ever

Goo-Goo Dolls' Iris has been echoing in my head few days so I gave up and now I have been listening City of Angels' soundtrack for few hours, and I just had to check can I find one Nicholas Cage's line from movie in question... I did, here it is:

• "I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One."
  (Seth, City of Angels)

One of the best lines is movie history, if you ask from me, as it's so true.

That's only movie ever which I can't watch without crying in the end. Or during it. Really interesting movie in that sense. And if I recall correctly purchasing it was kind of an accident. It has been bought only because of my attraction towards mr. Cage.
Must-see if you're into crying and unhappy endings.

In fact I tried to sleep, but this soundtrack has kept me awake reminiscening and thinking. Mostly thinking.
And then I had to rise up because my blood sugar got low... and in a way it was good that I woke up: I got email which cheered me up. Sometimes you just got to love humans, at least some of them.

Btw,

I kitted MSAL (I lack few skeins, but they're coming to me before February 15th) and I can only say that those colours are delicious. Strong, muted(?) shades.
