Safe small talk topic, right?

Last year (and year before that) we had snow in October and around this time it was freezing. And we had snow. But this year... well, let's say that the weather has been annoyingly warm, so warm that... let me show you.

Yes, flowers. Summer flowers. And I took these pictures 4th of November. Unbelievable.

What makes warm weather REALLY annoying? All the viruses and bacteria flourish and I am sick all the time. I want my winter!

Hibiscus

I have always been more as a brown thumb than green one so what I found from our bigger hibiscus the other day made me really happy...

I have never ever seen blooming hibiscus and always thought it would be difficult to make blossom... but this bugger did this all by itself!

iGoogle

I've been using iGoogle for a while and am really happy with it (because I can see feeds (now that I have slowly migrated to Google Reader), email and news in one place without having to run around internet) with one exception... lack of really nice themes so one night I made one myself!

It's from a picture I took at mom's cabin 2008 and you can find it from the database as Chive Flowers.

SAT epilogue and Crotty

Managed one goal, partially. The biscornu is now stitched, it still needs to be assembled.
I blame on sleeping too much (sleeping a day in a row is, by definition, too much.)

Crotty bloomed last two weeks and the flowers looked really good this time - the first edition was a bit lame compared to this one. (The picture is from the beginning of the blossoming phase.)

I am not blossoming and I really hope the friggin' medication doesn't worsen my asthma permanently. If this bronchospam stays for few days the medicine has to be changed... I am not going to use bronchodilator daily as my asthma was behaving beautifully before sertralin.

On the good side I slept only 7 hours last night and I feel like stitching! (Yeah, I know. It should not affect yet - but it does.)

The Jade Plant & Monstero

As previously mentioned, my jade plants love it here. They were tiny little plants when my mother brough them. (Both are doing as well, even I only took picture of one.)

(The pot it is in is hand-thrown by me, by the way.)

And, my Monstero (in Finnish Goblin Leaf) has also enjoyed living with me. When my mother brought it here it had only two or three little leaves in it.

(The picture is from yesterday evening as I had to ask from my mother what plant it is - because I seem to be slightly allergic to it. (I am not quite sure will it like the kitchen window as it is very hot, but we'll see.))

Crotty is also making new flower buds at the moment... So, spite of my non-existent green thumb plants which should not success in these longitudes blossom in my care... it makes me wonder why.

It's spring alright i.e. Codiaeum variegatum

When I bought the croton the clerk said it would be very difficult to care for over the winter ("It's quite a challenge to keep these beautiful foliage plants healthy outside of the tropics or a greenhouse") and would lose its redness due lack of light.

Crotty has been red whole winter and now... It's blooming - in addition of having grew up few additional leaves during winter (those deep green ones):

I don't have a green thumb, but my kitchen window seems to be good for tropical plants. (My jade plants enjoy it too.)
