I participated last weekend's SAT, but haven't remembered to post! I wonder where my mind has been...
Anyway, before and after:
Ravings of a solo parent, cat slave, gamer, demoness and a cross stitcher with severe case of mojoitis.
Anyway, before and after:
Click here to visit Happy Hours Needleworks! I suggest that you keep an eye on her, she will surely treat the world some gorgeous designs when she gets on going.
And yes, she has a complimentary design, so get yours while the stocks last!
Maestro, drumroll, please!
The winner is...
The lucky person with third comment was... Linda!
The reason for choosing this domain was simply that I like all the hidden meanings in it:
Linda, I will prepare a little stashy package for you over the weekend (you seem to be lucky stash wise nowadays *grin*).
Interesting things...
I was alone with the technical drawer most of the day and I kind of got the idea that he may enjoy having me around... He came to my office (oh yes, I have my OWN office) to ask something and after we had chatted a while he said that I should come to work for them.
Note that the man in question is not the managing director, so it was just an interesting opinion...
I think someone once said that when it rains, it pours... it probably applies to men too.
Anyway, I got my 1-2-3 Stitch! order!
I also received something from Sewandso yesterday: piece of black 32 count Belfast linen and this:
Job
During this week I have learned that boredom is exhausting: I have been idling most of the week because there's nothing much to do at the office as July is the quiet month and I am much more tired than I was in the last week when learning the stuff.
Yeah, it pays well, but I am already waiting for the weekend as I don't want to be bored.
Anyway, I got some belated birthday goodies in mail Wednesday: Dusty sent me a birthday card and some yummy Splendour silks as part of Birthday Thread Exchange.
They feel absolutely divine so I hope some project yells for them soon. ^^
Head issues
Surprisingly I am still having loads of energy even I have lowered my sertraline dose, but that is only a good thing: I have painted the vestibule (finally!) and reorganized the cleaning cabinet during the weekend and still found time to write emails, idle and stitch! o.O (Though now it's time to slouch a bit and make some coffee... *yawn*)
I received my GASTs from One Star's Light Needlework Supplies yesterday and after some floss apartheid I had this pile of floss for the Rose Sampler SAL with Linda.
I was curious and counted how many skeins I have reserved...
...
31.
Noticing that Ellen recommends that when stitched on two threads over two one should reserve 12 skeins altogether and that I am going to stitch this over one with one strand I think I have enough. I am not quite sure though.
Tallinn
Few shots from Tallinn, mostly from Vana Tallinn i.e. the Old City of Tallinn:
The interior shot is from Peppersack, the restaurant where we had lovely, lovely lunch: chichen fillet with wild rice, curry sauce and mango chutney with small glass of house white wine and for dessert some white chocolate mousse with rum cherries and the best cappucino I have drank since Nyíregyháza.
I am tired, but it was fun. ^^
And it will day more as the person whose substitute I will be shows me how the wage payments are done in Wednesday so I won't make any mistakes when I have to pay them before she comes back from holiday - therefore, less frequent blogging between 16th of July and 1st of August.
...and some floor decorations...
If you ask from me my former bedroom has found its real self now.
There is also an interesting tidbit: I realised that I haven't bought any of the furniture in my craft room. They are all either saved from trash or got from family or acquintances (when they haven't needed them anymore).
Zen and the Art of Drinking
You could imagine there were easier ways to drink water...
My current project is finalizing "the office space" so I guess I won't be stitching today either.
I have a job interview in Monday. I got a call from one "employee rental" company and they had a place they thought would be suitable for me. I met the lady at the rental company today and if everything goes well in Monday with the boss of the actual working place I will be working 2½ weeks as summer holiday substitute secretary-of-sorts (and two of those days would be for teaching me the job).
If they accept me (I am the only person the "rental service" recommends for them!) it will be 10€/ hour, 7½ hours/ day for sixteen days... I would pay 12,5% income tax of it, but it would still be load of money - and it would also mean more experience -> better possibilities to find another job.
And the day keeps getting better...
I had an envelope from Angela waiting in my mail box when I got home!
Its contents were very mysterious...
... but I decided to take the risk and open the package anyway...
Angela also included a beautiful cat card - and Masa wanted to work as a card stand. (Isn't he adorable? ^^)
In other words: belated stashy birthday present! (Linen, linen floss, cat treasure from Mill Hill and a cat stamp. ^^)
Thanks a million Angela!
AND...
I got an email from 1-2-3 Stitch! that they have got the Sacred Connection! You may also have guessed who, once again, justified the postages...
(So, it would be great to have the job as I would like to pay my credit card use for my mother as one payment...)
And it was a good mail day again!
My order from Julie's X Stitch arrived and now I am a proud, and happy, owner of my own copy of Mirabilia's English Roses! (It's a limited edition anyway, and almost impossible to find anymore.)
As you see I also found something else to justify the postages.
Is it just me or does that cat remind the Cheshire-Cat from Alice in Wonderland?
How do you balance your stitching time with your other obligations such as work, household chores, etc.?Unfortunately I don't work so it doesn't take any of my stitching time. Housework on the other hand... well, I usually try to use the carrot and stick method i.e. when I do some chore I can stitch after that for X time units. (For example today I have decided to do laundry, clean the fridge, run one load in dishwasher and wash all the dishes which need to be washed by hand. After this (and during laundry) I can stitch as much as I want.
Now that I have started to exercise daily I feel that I have more energy and enthusiasm to do the housework more efficiently, so this provides more time for stitching - unless the book I read during elliptical training is too good and I end up reading it during the evening and don't stitch at all. Regardless it's good thing: I haven't been reading this much in ages - and I have actually developed my stitching while reading a book skills lately...
